the top 3 mistakes to avoid when trying to grow your glutes
Let’s face it… we all want luscious and peachy glutes these days. However, glute growth is hard and there’s no point in trying to deny that.
Most of us struggle with making glute growth happen because we are a bit lost about how exactly to do it. Social media influencers and celebrities are not helping us either, given that what they show us on their profiles and in articles is what will be received as more trendy compared to what they really do to grow their glutes. The jump squats, the body pump classes, the banded hip thrusts… they are all just a front for them so they can make what they do appear effortless, appealing to women wanting to make progress and less scary than lifting heavy.
I know it’s hard to hear this, but it is the reality of things. Glute growth requires hard work and consistency over time and definitely NOT doing 50 banded abductions and body weight squats each day. Besides training, we also tend to forget that other factors also come into play when trying to grow our glutes: nutrition and lifestyle.
These two things get disregarded so dang much it is actually mind-blowing, given that they make up such a large part of progress. Besides ignoring two sides of the Progress Triangle, most women I have talked to also make mistakes on their glute growth journey, that could be easily avoided by just doing a couple things.
So, without further ado, let’s look at the TOP 3 MISTAKES you can make when trying to grow your glutes.
1. You don’t eat enough.
Glute growth only happens when there’s enough fuel in your body. You can’t diet all the time and expect your body to build muscle. The longer you can stay away from a calorie deficit while you work on building the peach, the better your results will be.
So, eat up buttercup and stay in that calorie surplus for long enough for your body to be able to build some muscle on your glutes.
2. You’re underestimating yourself.
I know that booty band workouts and pink weights sound nicer and less scary than lifting heavy… but your glutes are the biggest muscles in your body, so THEY NEED TO BE WORKED HARD TO GROW! Fifty reps of banded glute bridges will do absolutely f*ck all for your glute development, no matter how much “burn” you feel. It’s time to put your big girl pants on and get in that free-weight section because you belong there just as much as anyone else.
3. You’re f*cking impatient.
Growth takes loads of time, so you don’t have to worry about being jacked overnight. The sad news is though that because of the same reason, you need to be patient with your progress. Your glutes will not blow up overnight, unless you get plastic surgery. Take your time with it, be patient, stay consistent and changes will happen without you even realising it.
Remember: What’s worth having doesn’t come easy… glute growth is one of those things that is going to be so dang worth it in the end.
